The Etobicoke Humane Society has several OSPCA agents trained and licensed by the province to investigate cases of cruelty to animals in the former community of Etobicoke. Although the four municipalities have now amalgamated, the boundaries for cruelty investigation remain the same as the former city of Etobicoke.
These agents are governed by and act under the authority of the Ontario SPCA Act.

All of our agents have common goals…..to prevent acts of cruelty promote animal welfare care for the abandoned find homes for the homeless encourage proper animal care through information and education bring to public notice unacceptable practices which are harmful to animals press for changes in animal related laws where such are seen to be desirable.

Our agents have the authority of a police officer while enforcing the laws of Ontario which pertain to animal cruelty.

Our agents relieve animals from distress by making recommendations to the owner of the animal, issuing OSPCA Orders for the owner to take action to relieve distress and, if necessary, under certain circumstances, they have the power to remove an animal from the owner in order to relieve the animal's distress.

Please remember, all of our agents are volunteers and access the cruelty line throughout the day and evening, but if this is a life threatening situation that requires immediate attention, please call your Police Department, or Toronto Animal Services, Etobicoke Division at (416) 338 - 6271.

Barking dogs, dogs at large (running loose), biting dogs and strays should be referred to Toronto Animal Services, Etobicoke Division at (416) 338 - 6271.

Dogs should be socialized, exercised and have the opportunity of enjoying human companionship. Although the laws are not adequate, we do the best we can to relieve distress and educate the owner.

All callers to our Cruelty extension remain anonymous

In cases of cruelty or neglect, our officers can lay criminal charges against the accused person(s).
