The Etobicoke Humane Society was originally formed as the Etobicoke Animal Welfare Association in 1987, and then became an independent affiliate of the Ontario SPCA on June 16, 1993 and renamed Etobicoke Humane Society.
EHS is run wholly by volunteers and operates solely through their free services, fundraising efforts and donations from the general public.

EHS is a member of the Canadian Federation of Humane Societies.
EHS is a federally registered charity and may solicit donations and issue tax receipts.
EHS now operates their own office and cat adoption center, and it is our goal to eventually open a full-service shelter. Dogs for adoption are housed in foster homes and boarded until a suitable home can be found.
EHS has their own Ontario SPCA licensed cruelty investigators who operate within the original boundaries of the old city of Etobicoke.
EHS is completely separate from the Toronto Animal Services, Etobicoke Division located on the East Mall, which is funded entirely by the city, using your tax dollars.
Residents bring animals to us knowing that we are a society who does not believe in euthanasia, except in cases where the animal is beyond help, nor do we allow the animals to go to research.

Main Goals:
To continue to improve the treatment of all animals
To maintain the growth of our membership and volunteers, who are our only source of funding and staffing
To create a cooperative relationship with the City's Animal Center, since working with them can benefit both the animals and the people of Etobicoke
To raise the needed funds to open a full-service shelter

At the Etobicoke Humane Society we are committed to rescuing injured, abused and abandoned animals. We couldn't do it without your help.
Volunteers are our most valuable resource. If you share our aspirations and would like to volunteer, donate or become a member, please give us a call.
EHS is an all-volunteer organization , and we can proudly say that majority of donations are used for animal care.
There are no salaries paid, and the majority of administration costs are covered by our fundraising efforts.
